The introduction of mobileX-Dispatch in autumn 2015 was to automate the scheduling and coordination with the surgical plannings of hospitals and increase the transparency of the planning. In addition, the route optimization of tools was to shorten the journey times of medical technicians. Previously ten dispatchers based in Ratingen planned the nationwide jobs of 35 medical technicians with a proprietary CRM solution, in which the address data of the hospitals are deposited.
The jobs that the technicians assist include implantations of medical devices such as pacemakers or catheters. For this, the dispatcher must consult with the surgical planning of hospitals. The dates are always scheduled from one day to the next in order to guarantee a reliable assistance by a technician. This means a short-term, daily planning,in which the selection of the appropriate technician plays an essential role. When choosing the new solution, the automated planning and the skill matching function of mobileX-Dispatch were essential factors for Boston Scientific.
The tool also allows the planning of regular maintenance jobs on medical devices that supplement the daily planning of technicians around the surgical appointments. The route planning via a graphical map shall ensure that travel times to the customers are as short as possible.
For the future it is planned to connect the medical technicians with the mobile solution mobileX-MIP for Field Service to allow them a direct, electronic recording of order data at the customer’s. Also an extension of mobileX-Dispatch to other regions is planned.
